Funny word this " Dalit" is..when did we start using it? Did Mao make this word popular?

Damai, Kaami, and Saarki are actually from Khas Tribe. I read somewhere that those so called "dalits" were actually part of Khas tribe at one time. Khas people needed someone to do those jobs and which was later defined as low class jobs and hence people who did that as low class people.

Now, i do not want people to jump on their guns already and accuse me of not seeing the issue here. The issue of discrimination to low caste is a real issue but to say someone is ugly or good looking based on the caste is utter stupidity. The looks has nothing to do with the clan. There are ugly and good looking people in each clan.

Not sure who is pointing fingers to whom here but all Damai, Kaami, and Sarkee belong to Khas tribe. So really....who are those damai, kaami, and saarkee supposed to be uglier than? Is this girl on the news pointing to Bahun Chetri that they are calling Dalits are uglier? If anything, isint uglyness related to genetics? and if its genetics how could she be less or more uglier within the Khas clan? Or is she saying the other non Khas clans like Mongloids and Madhesis are calling her ugly?

Lets focus on the real issue of Nepal such as poverty, ignorance, education ( not TU certificates but being informed), discrimination, and superstition. This "Dalit" word is a political word imported recently for a political gain.

If damai, saarkee, and kaami were lowered in class because of the jobs they held and others are lowered  for their actions? Have you heard of Koirala bahun and Koirala chetri? Apparently Koirala bahun married a Chetri and their offsprings were downgraded to Chetris. Now the interesting thing is that the Bahun Grandpa was refusing and is still refusing in some cases to let his Chetri grandson into his Puja kotha.

Also, dont forget that the so called upper caste also discriminate each other among the upper caste. Upadhhe bahun think of themselves better than Kumai bahun and Jaisee bahun. Kumaai bahun in return probably think Jaisee bahun were lesser than themselves. All three bahuns think Chetries ware lesser than them.

Some examples of how castes were lowered;

Bahun marries a bahun widow - children became Jaise
Bahun elopes a bahuni without wedding ritual - children become Kumai
Bahun marries a Chetri - Children dropped to Chettri
Chetri marries a non chetri - Children Droped to Khatri Chetri (KC)
KC marries lower than Khatri - Children Dropped to Gharti (GC)
GC Marries Lower than Gharti - Children Dropped to Bhujel
Metal worker - kami/Biswokarma
Leather worker - Sarkee
Clothing and Music - Damai

and so on...i might not be all accurate as i have only heard this from others but the point is that the amense discrimination for the one below and the one who gets discriminated never learns a lession from the one above and is too eager to discriminate the one below him.

This is just an example on Khas clan and other clans have similar discriminatory hierarchy too. The Rais think of themselves better than the limbus, gurungs think they are better than Magars, Tamangs better than lama and lets not even touch Madhesis...they are worse than the Khas people in discriminating other Madhesis.

Hence....with all my random blabering above i think it would help if we know what the issue is and not let those political traders cash in on our weakness, the weakness of poverty, discrimination, education and ignorance.
