@Icanfly - I think you nailed it. New York jasto mahango thau ma kasle paucha sathi haru sadhai sadhai aayera uu sanga jua khelne. Uu po dhani karodpati ho. Ki ta tyo 4-5 jana pani uu jastai dhani ra kaam nabha hunu paryo. If that is the case then this story should’ve lead to a another story about ‘rich people of Nepal lazing around in US are kicked ass by their hard working wives’ – ‘Way To Go - Nepali Women of 21st Century’.
@tihar - I also agree with you about how this has anything to do with DV lottery or US. I mean it’s unfortunate that a lazy person, as the one portrayed in this story, had a job in Nepal. He was rich in Nepal, lucky for him. But there’s no doubt that he is a lazy person –suited for a stereotypical safe job in Nepal, where he couldn’t be fired.
This is a ‘lazy person needing psychological help’ kind of story with a backdrop of immigration. Even if the story is fake, it is relatable to our diaspora in US so people make strong arguments. Any well-read person who won a DV lottery would have known that they should be prepared for all kind of hardships in US. There’s another part of the coin. Immigrants will face issues with identity and loss of culture, depression and other psychological problems because of having to cope with a foreign culture. This is a well-documented and highly cited in the internet. And somehow we’re at the forefront of that dilemma too.
