I agree and disagree.

I agree because entertainment options, including movies and songs, have a huge impact on a culture. This is a well known fact. With access to a huge native crowdbase, and thus to huge financial and other resources, India can invest handsomely to produce high production entertainment values (movies, TVs, songs etc). While each of the smaller countries like Nepal has its own entertainment "industry," it is hard to compete against giants like Bollywood or Hollywood, hence the dominance is easy to see. India is expanding this dominance, in similar ways that Hollywood did. These dominance aren't limited to mere liking of the movies, but they affect your rationals and thinking subtly too. Why do people in Kathmandu prefer speaking in english? Some of it is because of the schools, a lot of it is because of the influence from Hollywood and British TV/movie industry. Some even argue that "whites" have created this perception of "superior" group, because of depiction of this race in Hollywood. If your heroes and idols are Americans, what kind of perception would you have about America? This translates to Bollywood movie. We might not like India's foreign policy and sometimes bullish/selfish aggression towards its neighbors, but we sure as heck like their stars and their movies.

I disagree because the original post almost makes it look like Bollywood is a product of the Indian propaganda to influence and take over the world. The cause and result relation is not so direct, I think. Sure India might try to cash-in on this popularity of Bollywood and try to spread its influence, but they almost certainly didn't start the industry for this purpose. It's not as if Indian Film Institute (NFDC) started funding big budget movies to take over the world, that's what the original post sounds like.
