Indian PM Narendra Modi pays Nepal photographer 1.5 Crore Indian Rupees for copyright injunction

In an unprecedented move the office of the Prime Minister of India has released a press release to address the recent accusations floating around in social media regarding copyright infringement on a Diwali picture published in Modi's facebook without giving any credit to the photographer.

The press release states, "It was an embarassing moment for the respectable office of the Prime Minister of India to have had published an illegal document in the PM's facebook page without giving correct acknowledgement or remuneration to the creator of the image in question. The creative art team that coordinates facebook updates have been fired due to their oversight of such an important matter."

"The office of the PM seeks to set an example to the mass of citizens of India that it represents by showing courtesy to intellectual property and rule of law as set forth in the constitution of India that protects individuals artistic freedom and ownership. Recently an episode of inadvertent copyright infringement was initiated for which the office of the PM of India is deeply apologetic, and in order to compensate for the infringement and for any mental, physical or emotional discomfort levied upon the photographer, the offce of the PM of India is providing the photographer , who happens to be from the neighboring country Nepal, the birthplace of Buddha,  with compensation amounting to 1.5 Crore Indian Rupees."

The press release further states, "The recipient will have the option of getting 2 brand new luxury brand Maruti car Maruti Ertiga ZDI, and a flat in Mumbai at Goregaon managed by the Oberoi Realty group. These have both been donated to the office by Indian lobbyist when the news of the copyright infringement hit the social media scene on early Tuesday morning."
