Why Nepali women practice ancient tradition of Teej

Comparing with kukkur tihar is like comparing apples and oranges. What I got from my conversation is that as long as women don't treat men as equals, men will not treat women as equals. Why would men disagree when women are required by tradition to treat them as gods?

I am sure Nepali men are afraid that their wives will be like them who don't feel anything wrong in checking out other women and flirting with them at every chance they get. In general I find it insecure to question and be suspicious of every little action when their women do something.
