Job Interview Experiences

I'd like to share my first job interview experience .

My first real job interview was when I was in University for a on-campus job. The position was web Developer/Database Manager for one of the department of my University. It was really good opportunity for me, as this was my field of study.

I went to the office and waited 15 minutes before they called me in a room for interview. I was nervous from inside but was fairly confident outside. The manager asked me general questions like, What is my worst fear?(my answer to this was 'Cave'). How do you handle pressure? Bla bal bla....I answered them with my best ability.

Finally he started asking me technical questions. One of the question was, Do you know how to make Pivot Chart in Excel? Until that time I had never heard of Pivot chart in Excel. But I answered, I know it well. Than, lightening stroke me when he asked me to do it right there infront of him. He put me in his desk and gave me some random data to make pivot table. At that point I could not backup and say I dont know it. I was so scared that I could not think anything.

Luckly, the interviewer went out to get coffee. Within that 2 minutes, I went to google and searched 'How to Create Pivot Table in Excel?'. I got the basic idea what pivot table was, so I played around for like 5 more minutes and showed it to the interviewer.
After few more questions, he told me I had the job. That was big surprise for me.
So lesson learned is,
1. don't lie in the interview, it might lead to disaster.
2. don't giveup too early
3. sometimes lie helps (not recommended)
4. be confident about yourself ( this is the most important)

If you have good/bad experiences please share. It might be helpful for others during their career.
