Recently, I used Prabhuonline.com to transfer money to Nepal, they are asking for scanned copy of SSN for transaction up to 4999. Is it legal to ask for SSN copy by any financial institution? Is it safe to give them scanned copy of SSN.

Please comment only if you have any knowledge or any experience on this.
