Veteran footballer Suresh Panthi passed away....

ANFA mourns Suresh Panthiýs demise Himalayan News Service Lalitpur, September 22: All Nepal Football Association today organised a condelence ceremony on the 13th day of the demise of former national football team captain and traffic police inspector Suresh Panthi. The ANFA officials, players and coaches observed one minute silence, and paid tributes to Panthi, who led Boys Union Club to the Martyrsý Memorial League title in 1975, which remains the clubýs highest achievement till the day. While Arun Shankar Baidya, president of Boys Union Club, Mahesh Bista, senior vice president of ANFA, and Bhim Thapa, senior coach, lauded Panthiýs contribution, ANFA president Ganesh Thapa said that the association was planning to organise events in his memory. ýWe have been organising various events in different playersý names, we will organise one event in Panthiýs name also,ý said Thapa. Panthi, who died of bonemarrow cancer on September 10, also won the Tribhuvan Shield, and guided BUC into the final of the Birthday Cup. Panthi is survived with a wife and two sons.
