Your point is right, but I doubt they are running definitely to win this election. It'd be nice if they win, we will have a true youth representation in CA; one that is not affiliated to age old "bidyarthi union" and garbage like that (I really think students shouldn't be involved in any kind of political parties while they are studying).
Part of it has to be to raise awareness, to show that youth of the nation has something to say beyond the confinement of political parties. Today they are novice, tomorrow they might be a legit threat. If we get them enough votes, they will be taken seriously even if they don't win. Winning would be nice, but a good portion of vote will be pretty good as well.
