Maximum20, Is that really such a scary statement. How much has the "special" programs really helped the minorities and the poor? It only reinforces their belief that they are "victims" and that the government should provide them with benefits right on their doorsteps. Personally, I'd like to see a market-based solution where the poor are provided incentives to participate in the economy, maybe by taking over jobs currently gobbled up by the growing number of illegal immigrants who come through Mexico everyday. Of course, that would involve clamping down on the movement of illegal labor through the southern border. But given the current state of the country after 9/11, that has to happen anyway. Tightened security at the ports and airports won't mean much if the border with Mexico remains porous.
