Yeah many ppl say that that is the statue of kali or Birupakchhya ( real name of the guy as per the History).
But few years back I read in kantipur or some other Nepali newspaper that the statutue is of a King, few justification was given> I tried to find that article but looks like Google/Yahoo are not able to find it.
It is general concept of the believer of the story that once the statue comes completely out of the ground present day civilization as we know it as "kali yug" will be destroyed, some ppl say world will be destroyed. But reading the story of different "yuga". the claim looks not logical. Why?/
1. Sataya yug -- some ppl say it was the age of gold, gold was used for many purpose, Gold was easy to discover because of its glitter and less reactive nature compared to other metals, Iron was yet to be discovered. There was increase in population, not enough gold was available for the use, and it became out of reach of common man. Scientist were under pressure to find something to replace gold. They discovered Silver. Satya yug had its apogee and was metamorphed ( or say was destroyed ( Mind you not the world, not earth, not humanity) then civilization entered "Dwapar Yuga". Industry shifted from gold refining to Silver refining.
2. Dwaper Yug- Scientist were looking for other metals which they can use to make utensils, weapons, household use etc. They discovered Silver, which was not as scarce as gold, so ppl started to use silver, silver slowly replaced gold. This was Dwaper yug. , A Yug of Silver. Once again population explosion put pressure on demand for silver, slowly its availability decreased. Scientist were under pressure to find something else to replace Silver. Scientist discovered copper. Age of Silver or Dwaper youg was at its apogee. Civilization was mature and the world enters into Treta yug. Industry shifted from Silver refining to Copper refining.
3. Treta Yug--Was the civilization which used Copper in weapons, utensils , machinery and in whatever "thing" required to use metal. Many copper processing technology/Industries were developed. Population exploded again, more demand for copper, not enough resources. Scientist were under pressure to find another materials which could be used in daily life,. Scientist discovered Iron/steel. Treta yuga had its apogee. Industry shifted from copper refining to Iron refining and steel production.
4. Kali Yug.--Where use of iron is everywhere, Life can not run smooth without the use of iron. Iron is the main backbone of the civilization. Once again there is population explosion. This is kali yug. Increase in population put pressure on demand for iron. As iron processing requires lots of energy and transportation of iron is expensive ( its heavy) scientist were under pressure to find something which can be used instead of Iron which requires less energy to process and lighter, scientist discovered plastic. This the age of Iron where use of iron is rampant, big countries are securing the supply of Iron ore ( specially China, which is buying the Guarantee of iron mines in Australia, and in different countries in Africa). As Iron processing is energy consuming process they are also securing the supply of coal and oil (that is why middle east always gathers so much attention. So present day scientists are trying to replace iron and in many cases they are successful too. In another 100 years, if population growth is controlled or lf world out of iron. Society need something else to replace iron, most likely candidate to replace iron is plastic, Most probably in 100 yrs time civilization will use far less iron compared to today. Kali yug is reaching its apogee. Civilization will enter another youg which Yug will be that?
5. Plastic yug (proposed)---Use of plastic will be rampant etc etc.
So, Different yugs are just different stage of development of human civilization, civilization wont be destroyed, earth /universe wont be destroyed, Civilization will metamorphosed itself into different stage.
Then why our forefather didn’t envisaged this plastic yug (ta matrai badhi janne ?)
Like Mayan colander, Mayans civilization created the calendar for 2 millennium based on their knowledge of astronomy. Many ppl thought after that world will be destroyed, that didn’t happened.
there could be many reasons why Mayans didn’t created the colander beyond 2 millennium
1. they must have thought enough is enough and left the task for next civilization, but before that Mayans civilization was destroyed and many other similar reasons.
Similarly our forefathers may have though let next civilization think about other than four yugs,
Or, each succeeding civilization must have added different yugs in our religious books, so it is the duty of our generation or may be few generation in the years to come to add about Plastic yug in religious book.
