It's sad to hear about these gentlemen who are in trouble for borrowing money from friends. I think if they have a good lawyer they will be set free immediately.

The requirement for them was to show bank balance which they did, there is no law to verify how the money is attained. The money could very well have been begged, borrowed or stolen and it is not upto any agency to prosecute someone from borrowing money.

People borrow money all the time. Most of the US economy itself is based on taking loans and paying interest. So it is OK to take a loan of money and show bank balance but it's not OK to take loan from a friend to show bank balance.

It is unfortunate to see some harmless individuals being prosecuted for such a petty action.
