No, it’s not their fault that they were a disappointment! For what I think, and how things are taken as, “You just expected too much”. But expectations come natural with the closeness and the bonding of your relationship. True, you first meet, get to know, the more close you get, the more you expect. Then comes a point where you would be shouting on top of your voice saying “What a disappointed!”

It’s always easier said than done, not to expect a thing from a loved one is simply not possible. “Things” here can be anything; in other words, it doesn’t necessarily mean materialistic objects.

Not everyone is YOU, they certainly would not do things you would have done. Life would definitely not be fun, they everyone thought and did the same; it leaves no excitement, no surprises. The lesser you expect, the more surprises you get. No wonder there comes a point when you would say: “I was literally surprised to see him/her do that, I didn’t expect that from him/her”. This again can be seen either ways; for grass always appears to be greener at the other end.

Here I am, having it up in writings, not to tell the world on what life is, how expectations leads to disappointments or expectation is inversely proportional to happiness; but to remind myself that happiness can be achieved; and you don’t need to depend on others to be happy. One is self-sufficient to keep themselves in what-so-ever condition they want; with a little bit of determination, happiness is simply two steps away.
