Thanks to Mancini and Geology Tiger. Although, I am not sure how much to trust Kantipur's article on him given the fact that they (Kantipur) have politicized this issue heavily and definitely have an interest at stake here.

Magorkhe1's point is valid; why appoint a controversial figure in one of the most sensitive office? On the same token if the opposition is primarily due to the fact that he served during the controversial period then his dealings should be further looked into; just serving during the time shouldn't be enough to disqualify anybody.
