Several reports were made, to the American Meteor Society, of a large meteor above the eastern coastal states of the U.S. at about 7:55 p.m. EDT Friday.
The reports described a large fireball that appeared white or green in color and moving from left to right.
"I was outside taking pictures of stars and saw a bright white light moving from northwest to northeast," said Hunter Outten. Outten is a contributing forecaster for the AccuWeather Astronomy page.
"The color went from white to green and I saw orange debris coming from it," Outten said.
Unconfirmed reports state that the meteor has made an impact near the Maryland/Delaware line.
More information will follow as it is confirmed.
