 Jhapaliketo: 100% agree with the idea that enough supply of electricity is a must nowadays. Yet, this is only tiny aspect of a bigger systematic problem. Meaning, even if were able to somehow flood the country with abundance of electricity, things are not going to change that much. 

It goes more into our culture; still primitive mindset, no desire for excellence as a whole, self-reliance not a major agenda, sense of national identity etc are of long term socio-psychological problems. Other more obvious ones are perhaps the corruption, no rule of law, sense of security (to invest) are more direct and can be felt on a daily basis and are perhaps are easier to change than the problems above. 

At least, there is more to it...than the physical facility. As one wise man posed a question: "What is developement? Is it roads and bridges or the mindset?"
