DAILEKH, DEC 29 - Police have arrested a man in Dailekh district for setting fire to his wife's genitals apparently over a minor family dispute.
Kamaro Sarki, of Narayan Municipality-6 in the district, had hit the private parts of his wife Chawali Sarki with a burning wood on Friday night.
Acting Chief at Dailekh Police Station, Inspector Binod Sharma, said that the police have suspected that Sarki might had hit his wife with a burning wood after she refused to have sexual intercourse. Sarki has sustained burn injury in her genital and thigh, said Dr. Pukar Rana at the hospital.
"Since Kamaro was under heavy influence of alcohol during the incident, further details have not come out yet," said Inspector Sharma. Police said that both husband and wife were drunk.
Chawali was rushed to district hospital with the help of neighbours on Friday night. She has been receiving treatment at the emergency of the hospital.
Kamaro, in his statement to police, said that the incident occurred when he pushed his wife to the burning stove during the dispute. His wife had also frequently changed her statement in order to protect her husband.
