I will comment on visa process.

 

I went to Nepal last year to get married. It was also time to renew my H1-B visa. From the USA I took all my papers for H1-B and also a letter from my manager to US Embassy requesting a derivative H4 visa for my spouse. I think its not required but I got this letter from my manager even before I got married just in case. For the visa interview for my wife and myself, I took the following:

 

1. All H1-B documents given to me by my lawyer.

2. Employment verification letter.

3. Pay stubs of few months

4. Tax return of previous year

5. English Translation of Marriage certificate

6. Bank statement to prove that I can bear financial responsibility for my wife

7. Wedding photos - I just took it without knowing and the consular did ask me to show the pictures.

8. Letter requesting derivative H4 visa from manager

 

Interview was together and took 4/5 minutes. Visa was approved for both of us. I collected it next day.

 

Some questions I could remember:

 

1. How did you guys meet?

2. Is it arrange marriage?

3. How long have you guys known each other?

4. Can you show me wedding pictures?
