Word Protest against Miss Nepal USA!

I am shocked at the event Miss Nepal USA that just took place couple of days ago in D.C. I was not there in person to attend this event but after reading 100s of comments, blog posts and stories about the event I could not help but start a blog to initiate a "word portest" against such an event. Often time organizers put on these crappy shows, the anger in the audiences fuel up for a few days-some write angry blog posts about it and some will swallow it with a grain of salt and everything resets after a little while as if nothing happened and next year the same cycle occurs. BUT how long do we let go of such things and let it happen again and again? This is an effort to stop such ridiculous events from happening because if we don't punish these people now and set a precedent of what happens if such show is put up this cycle of unethical behavior and fraudulent mentally will keep on growing leaving many unspoken dreams and hopes shattered!

I am not here to bash on the winners or comment on who should have won the show. It is about putting a fair and ethical show to empower young women, which is exactly what Miss Nepal USA has failed to do- TWO times in a row!!! Miss Nepal USA brags about its mission as being "Miss Nepal USA event is characterized by elegance, glamor and glory. We envision to identify, honor, promote, serve, inspire and impart Nepali young women and Nepali heritage......". If even half of this was true I would not have been bothered to write this post. To begin  there are not many platforms for Nepali young women to seek empowerment and voice their opinion and among the few we have there are crappy platforms like Miss Nepal USA.  The money to be in the show is $1000 dollars per contestant asides from the money they spent on their flights, other personal items such as shoes, clothes, jewelleries, and the tickets their families buy to support them etc. The cost to actually be on the show is $1000+ which is a very expensive price to pay to be cheated by unfair judgement and false advertisement of the program. I was there at the first Miss Nepal USA last year and was absolutely shocked to see the mismanagement of EVERYTHING. Everyday everything was run behind schedule. The contestants woke up early in the morning for training which lasted until late hours of the day.  Walking on their stilettos all day these constentants were servered breakfast during lunch hour and dinners around almost midnight -this is an absolute breach of basic human rights! The training is to empower young women and give them a platform to become successful leaders NOT to prepare them for "hunger campaigns"!  Moreover, there was no professional make up artist as promised to help the girls before the show and the make up room was a tent set up outside the venue as if the girls were out camping rather than participating on the show. Finally the event ended at 2 a.m the next day leaving a lot of hungry and sleepy audiences dissatisfied with the quality of the show. I was shocked to see the show bounce back this year after leaving such a large group of audience furious and upset. Even the number of the contestant had increased from 27 to 28. I know its not a huge increase in the number but to convince one more participant, one more family and one more audience after putting up such a shitty show only entails how we try to be oblivious and ignorant towards these issues unless it happens to one of us.  Even I was duped again -in its initial phase as an audience I was sold by the improvement on the websites, promotions of the show and to be honset it looked very promising to me. But I was absolutely disappointed and furious to have seen the same mistakes be repeated this year! How can the same things go wrong twice, one year after another! The issues are the same: no food on time for the contestant, poor housing conditions, mismanaged administration and same group of organizers that have no respect for anyones time! This event screams fraudulent and deceptiveness from its core. If we don't set a precedent now by protesting against this we will give many other deceptive shows like this a chance to cheat us again! Like they say " Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", if we let them go again this time after ruining 28 more contestants dreams and hopes, and cheating off many supporters and audiences we indeed are as guilty as they are!

P.S. I encourage everyone to keep on writing and voicing their opinion about the show so that we can create awareness in the community and eventually shut down pathetic and deceptive show like this. We can't let this happen again and again- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH NOW!
