And btw, hindus worship cows .and snakes and monkeygods too.to worship is to show respect and affection (wworshipping your parents,earth and so on).you must do more reserch on the saguna and nirguna nature of god.u are not worshipping the stone but it is just the representation of nirguna character of the heavenly one.you may look the snake on shivas neck as a mere cobra but for some it is the victory of the heavenly over human characters like desire,ego,greed and anger.
