Vale, yes she can take a semester off and go to Nepal and come back as long as she has the valid I20 for spring 2013 and the valid VISA too. Make sure the I20 will be issued by the DSO before she leaves for Nepal because i many circumstances the DSO promise to issue the I20 later which i don;t think would be a good idea. Hope that helped.
