After reading all other postings about chettri bahun coalition of bravery I wanted to write something about the treachery and trickery of the Shah dynasty that make them look like great people. You can trick and lie your way into wealth and power but the reality of the ascent will always remain.

Drabya shah who was the ancestor of Prithvi Narayan shah became a king by lying, trickery and treachery. Even Prithvi Narayan's army was not able to win over Kirtipur two times. The newar warriors were very strong and powerful to be able to defeat the Shah army twice. Even Kalu Pandey was killed by the newars.

Again, only by treachery and trickery was Prithvi Narayan Shah able to defeat Kirtipur and enter the valley by attacking on the festival of Indrajatra.

Many accept this saying all is fair in love and war. It is same as saying corruption, bribery, killing is acceptable because for a poor person trying to survive, it's his battle to stay alive so he takes bribes and commit crimes. It is never a wise thing to try to find an explanation to something that is unethical.

It is not so surprising that the same descendents are still practicing these unethical corruption, trickery and treachery in large quantities to this day in Nepal.
