Gulf airways is a decent airline company. It has a codeshare agreement with American Airlines thats the reason why it's so cheap compared to others. You get what you pay but that doesnot mean Gulf Air is bad. You have to set your standards according to what you pay. You dont wanna spend  little extra money and expect the highest hospitality (seriously!)  $400 is a big amount of money. I will rather save $400 on a flight as long as its safe, serves nice meal and staffs are helpful. I can go home and utilize that $400 on lot of stuffs. Donot over think and go by the basic rule "you get what you pay". If you want the highest hospitality and nicest flying experience, book a business class. You will be served nicely and statisfied even in Nepal Airlines.
