If you were to look at historical facts you will see in the last 100 years the countries that have sucessfully transfered themself form 3rd tier countries (like nepal) to 1st or 2nd tier contries had some form of authoritarian government to start with. Look at Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, singapore to name a few. All these contries have been able to develope to more democratic style of government but they all started with authoritarian regimes. Of course china and in some ways singapore have not completed their transformation yet but they are on their way. The lesson here is that reforms can be quicker with authoritarian government assumming they actually take responsibility to improve contries conditions like the list of countries I had mentioned earlier. There is no red tape so to speak. Situation in nepal has gotten pretty bad if you were to look at things collectively. Education system has failed, currption is rampant, economy is not in great shape, pollution is a problem, agricultural production is dwindling and people with some education are leaving the country for other opportunities. Basically nepal needs a lot of reform and quickly. When I say quickly I mean within 20 years or so to move in the right direction. Right now there is no one in the govt. with such capabilities to carry out much needed reforms. Political situation is not stable nor are there many educated people running the govt. In last 14 years we have had like 14 different govt.'s and with such instability no progress can be maintained. Bottom line is we need change. We need someone that is tough, educated, compassionate, and some one with a vision to lead the government. We need to radically change our constitution, do away with old treaties with other contries that are not mutually beneficial, and we need to focus our energy in improving education system. All this may not be possible within a party system that we currently have and with current leaders. Democracy is the future and we do need party people that can be held responsible by the people that they serve. Right now we are no where near that goal.!!!!! (I am too lazy for good english so ....oh well)
