The plot of the story, and especially the the last line, really got me!
It's human nature to overcome with jealousy and/or insecurity at that age and when circumstances turn out as laid out in the narration. Most of all, the writer comes across as unpretentious and original in writing by not trying to use diction that would sound like one using a nuclear war-head to blow up an ant-hill.
