Geology Tiger,

It sounds like you are trying to find peace in working on practical solutions like starting an aloe-vera farm. I think that is a wonderful idea. I know you will inspire many people by your actions. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Once again in your post you have made some great points. I wanted to ask you:

Honestly speaking, in my mind, I don't even know what a stable Nepal would look like? Do you have any idea?

Sometimes I try to visualize mentally freezing Nepal and take a picture of a stable Nepal. And I find it so difficult. If Nepal was truly a stable country what would that look like?

Geology Tiger,
What do you feel are the things that need to happen first, before Nepal can be stable?

And please don't say political leaders. That is a weak answer. I feel the political leaders are a symptom of the problem. But it is not the root cause. What is the root cause that prevents Nepal from being stable?

You are a geologist. Think of it in terms of soil. What does soil need to be stable? What is the cause of unstable soil?

In the history of Nepal, has Nepal ever been stable? When?

Honestly, asking myself this question, I feel that during Mahendra's rule, Nepal was the most stable. I know that Nepal was not very democratic in Mahendra's rule. So maybe that is the tough choice that us Nepalese need to make. Maybe we are not mature enough to have both stability and democracy. Maybe, at least for the near future, we need to choose stability instead of democracy. Maybe we need to have a strong leader like King Mahendra was.

I am not proposing that we bring back the monarchy. We are simply discussing ideas. I find discussing ideas, even if the ideas are a little extreme, to be a better alternative than to just throw our hands up in the air and give up, no?
