I wrote a similar article a while ago, and below is the comment from one of my Nigerian friends.
Despite all of the struggles, hardships and gnashing of teeth in the USA, it is still has to be one of the best countries in the world to live in. The things we consider basic necessities in the USA, e.g. constant water and electricity is a luxury that only the rich can afford in Nigeria. If you’re seriously injured, without a dime in your pocket, and you walk into any emergency room in the USA. They are obligated to & will provide you the medical care you need. That’s why the poor in America go to the ER for anything ranging from cough to sore throat to headaches to the real emergencies. If for some reason the hospital refuses to care for you, they are held liable and can face criminal charges for that. If you’re in the same situation, and you walk into an emergency room in Nigeria, you’ll bleed to death. If one of the doctors or nurses decides to be nice and take care of you, they will be reprimanded by the hospital.The jobless rate in America is about 11% i think, and everyone is wailing and crying. Obama is doing everything he can to fix it. While the jobless rate in my country is probably over 40% and has been that way for years. Leaders get elected, they embezzle funds, they leave, while the citizens continue to wallow in poverty and desperation. If you’re getting robbed, or your father is having a heart attack you call 911 and they’re there in minutes. Well try that in Nigeria and get the biggest shock of your life when you realize that the police and the thieves are one and the same. And the ambulance doesn’t have any gas in it. One of the things that amazes me the most about America is the polls. That the politicians actually care what the people think about them, baffles me beyond anything. All the above and much, much, much, much more are the reasons why people struggle to get into the USA. There’s a story of a Nigerian guy who in his desperation to come to America sneaked into the hanger in an airport and hid himself under the plane. Well, when the plane took off, the wheels folded in and killed the guy. I have been searching for a job since february so I feel your pain, but the attraction people in developing countries have to America is not unfounded. America is definitely one big dichotomy… even that is an understatement.

मेहनत गर्नेलाई मात्र हो अमेरिका|
नेपालमा गफ लडाएर एक वर्ष आधा समय यो विदा र त्यो विदा लिने घाम तपुवा कमर्चारी र त्यस्तो प्रबित्ति भएकोलाई हैन| अमेरिकामा वाच्न मेहनत गर्नपर्छ, मेहनत| कि हुनपर्यो शीप नत्र भने मेहनत गर्ने लगनशीलता| नेपालमा अधिकृत भएर पियनलाई काम अह्राउने संस्कार अम्रिका जान अघि यही छाड्न पर्छ| अमेरिकामा कसैले घोक्राएर लाने हैन, आफ्नो च्वायासले जाने हो| अमेरिका जान अघि त्यँहाको स्थितिको बारेमा सबै सुचना उपलब्ध छन्|
हाम्रा नेपालमा अयोग्य, असक्षम र अल्छे व्यक्तिहरुले जताततै नाता गोता र जातको प्रभावमा पद ओगटेका हुन्छन| उनीहरुको प्रभावकारिता कामको दक्षतामा भन्दा उनी को हुन् र कसलाई चिनेका छन् र चिप्लो घस्न कति माहिर छन् त्यही योग्यताले अरुलाई पिटेर खाईरहेका हुन्छन| समुद्रपारको देशमा वसोवास गर्ने मनसायले गएपछि आफुलाई पनि त्यही अनुरुप मानसिक तयार पारेर जान्पर्छ| कुइएको कार्य संस्कार र सोचलाई नेपालमै तिलान्जली दिन नसक्नु ठुलो कमजोरी हो| श्रमको महत्व बुझ्ने मर्यादाको कदर र सही मुल्यांकन गर्न परम्पराको प्रसंशा गर्न सक्नुपर्छ|
अमेरिका पुग्न साथ सबै नेपाली बराबर हुन् आउँछ, केवल शीप, मेहनत र योग्यताको भरमा बराबर गणना हुन्छ| यो जात र उ जात अनि त्यो फलानाको छोरो र छोरी भनेर लाममा अघि बस्न दिईदैन| कानुन र न्यायको नजरमा पनि सबै बराबर ठहरिन्छ| वास्तवमा हाम्रो नेपालको गणतन्त्रको लक्ष्य पनि त्यही हो र यो अझ पुरा हुनसकेको छैन|
नेपालमा गफ हाँकेर र अरुको मेहनतमा आफ्नो मोज गर्नेलाई अमेरिका पुगेर त्यहाको अनुभव नमिठो सपना हुनसक्छ| अरब, कोरिया र जापान आदि देशमा हाम्रा नेपालीले मेहनत गरेर कमाई गरेका छन्| अधिकतर नेपालका काम गर्ने र गरिखाने जति अरब, कोरिया आदि मुलुकमा जान्छन र धेरैजसो मुखैले र सुखैले खाउँ बसु भन्नेहरु अमेरिका जान चाहन्छन| हालको आर्थिक मन्दीले रोजगारी पहिले भन्दा गाह्रो भएको होला तर मेरो आफ्नै विचारमा अन्य मुलुकहरुको तुलनामा मेहनत गर्नेका लागि अमेरिका स्वर्ग हो| विशेष गरी यंग जेनेरसनको लागि अवसरको पराकाष्ठा हो अमेरिका|
Be Optimistic and KEEP WALKING no matter how hard do you get hit. At the end it will be alright.
