He did not even wear normal regular mourning dress (white dress). I do not know, looks like he is inching toward Christianity or already a Christian or aniti- Hindu?

Communist Dahal not to observe mourning rituals.

After the last rites of his father were performed in Chitwan on Sunday, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal decided he and his family will not observe the 13-day mourning period. As per Hindu tradition, a 13-day mourning period is observed in a family after a member's death.

Muktiram Dahal's funeral was held at the holy confluence of the Trishuli and Kaligandaki rivers in Devghat. Muktiram, 85, who passed away on Saturday night at his residence in Bharatpur Municipality-6, had been suffering from multiple illnesses, including renal and respiratory ailments.

He is survived by his two sons and five daughters.

Unlike others, Maoist Chairman Dahal lit the funeral pyre with his younger brother Gangaram and did not have his head shaved. The communist leader was also donning a suit during the final rituals.

According to lawmaker Narayan Dahal, a relative of the bereaved family, the mourning rituals of the late Muktiram will not be observed. Dahal returned to the Capital after the cremation on Sunday afternoon.

Maoist leader Haribol Gajurel said the death of Dahal's father will not affect peace process discussions with other leaders.

Dahal arrived in Bharatpur at around 5 am on Sunday with his family. Emotional, he sobbed as he talked with his father's friends here.

Muktiram, a chronic patient of pneumonia, high blood pressure and kidney ailments, was brought to his Bharatpur residence before Dashain from the Capital.

Amid a condolence meet in his residence, Muktiram's body was draped with the communist flag. The body was later cremated as per Hindu tradition.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, his wife Hisila Yami, Maoist leaders Narayankaji Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Agni Sapkota, among others, attended the funeral.

Muktiram, according to his friends and relatives, was a religious man. "He recited the Geeta daily and offered pujas," Gangaram said.
