i agree to what you guys are saying i.e. stay here and aid home but my main point is just economic support from here ain't enough. it's good, no dobut about that and yes, it helps make Nepal rich but the key thing is it's not going to make Nepal prosperous. we keep on sending dollar back home but is the money being spent at what you wanted it to be spent? is it as effective as you wanted it to be? and for how long will you keep on sending money? just money is not going to help and that's my main point. and i'm not saying just to students, it applies to all - people who come to the States either for studies, work, or just even a vacation and then lose their way back home.
for instance, you work here day and night, serving the States and in return you get money which you spend for yourself and your family and donate if you are generous. what if you go back home and work there? you'll earn less, no doubt about that but you are serving Nepal, making people's lives easier back home. and that's what i think is really important if you really want to see Nepal develop. you can't hope to see Nepal progressing by donating dollars, you actually have to do the dirty work because that's much more effective.

aba kuro aayo gayera suru kasari garne, paisa chhaina, etc. dhani baauko chhora bhayera aat aayeko ho malai, paisa nahunele kehi garna sakdaina, etc. i'm no different than any of you. and i haven't received a penny from my parents since the day i left home and i assume neither have you. my parents are similar as yours - typical farmers who have hardly any savings left after feeding themselves aruond the year, so i don't expect any support from them, instead i'll be obliged to support them which i will.

engineers here get better training and hands on experience than those back home, same with doctors, accountants, executives, and so forth. when (not if, when) we use what we have been trained for so long in the states in conjunction to the local knowledge of colleagues back home, the results will be surprising.
i cam here with nothing, i'm getting a good education, will go back and work in Nepal although I'll easily make over $100k/yr once i'm done with my studies.
and to dissident, yes I'll do H1B and all that stuff, but won't stay here forever, I stay until i make like $100-200k which will be enough for me to establish my work in Nepal. i guess you know how hard it is to get money when you are starting something that has never been done before.

glad to know that a lot of people are aiding home from here but that just isn't enough. it's hard to let go of a good life here, and it's even harder to struggle with the inadequacies back home but hey the people back home are making their lives through it. if they can, so can we. and the biggest thing is more you run from those inadequacies, more it grows, let alone Nepal being developed.

jai Nepal
