ANA Election 2011 Update for candidates and voters

Dear ANA members, candidates and voter,

The ANA Election Committee (EC) would like to inform all the ANA members, voters and candidates about the following updates:

Candidates: Election will be held for the following positions (total positions eleven (11)):

1.      President (requires being a person of Nepali origins with citizenship or legal residency status in Americas. This is a legal requirement)
2.      Senior Vice President
3.      Vice President
4.      General Secretary
5.      Secretary
6.      Treasurer (requires being a person of Nepali origins with citizenship or legal residency status in Americas. This is a legal requirement)
7.      Deputy Treasurer
8.      Information Director
9.      Member at Large (n=3)

Eligibility for Candidates: Candidates must be the paid members by July 24^th, 2011. Registered attendees of ANA-Boston and ANA-DC Conventions are considered paid members. For the position of the President, one must have served the ANA Executive Board for at least one year anytime since 1983. For the positions of the President and Treasures one requires to be a person of Nepali origins with citizenship or legal residency status in Americas. This is a legal requirement.

Important: All Candidates must be proposed and seconded by ANA paid members with good standing. One person can not propose or second more than one candidate. One candidate can not propose or second another candidate. Failure to do so will terminate the candidacy. Previously nominated candidates must review their nomination if the above mentioned requirements are violated and must re-nominate by July 24^th.

If you want to pay by PayPal, please visit ANA official website (www.anaonline.org). It is on the right corner in the donation section. The purpose of donation is either Membership ($15) or Nomination ($100). Send EC the confirmation with clearly visible your name and email address.

Voters: Following are the eligible voters for the upcoming ANA Election 2011.

a.       All the life members listed in the opinion report of the Membership Verification Committee. List must be provided to EC by ANA Interim Executive by July 25th.
b.      All the paid ANA members in the record of the ANA Executive Board made available by the Interim Executive board. This includes new memberships until July 24^th,2011. List must be provided to EC by ANA Interim Executive by July 25^th . New members may either pay by PayPal as mentioned above or deposit $15 membership fee to the above mentioned ANA bank account and email member's information (full name, address and email required) to ANA Interim Board and/or EC.
c.       All the ANA-Boston Convention 2010 registered attendees. List must be provided to EC by the three member committee of the following by July 24^th :

d. All the ANA-DC Convention 2011 registered attendees. List must be provided to the EC by ANA-DC Convention Team representatives of the following by July 24^th :

Note: All the eligible voters must contact their representatives so that their names are not missed in the voter’s lists. EC accept the lists from the above mentioned Teams ONLY. Any missing of the names must come from the Team of representatives mentioned above.

Important Deadlines/Timelines:

There is an extension of the time-line for membership renewal and nomination filing due to delay in setting up the PayPal account in the ANA website. PayPal account has been set up on Friday, July 15^th in the Donation section at www.anaonline.org.

ANA Election 2011-2013 Nomination Deadline: Wednesday, July 24^thFirst list of candidates and voters Wednesday, July 27th
Claiming and withdrawing etc. Thursday July 28 to Friday, July 29th
Final List of Voters and Candidates, Thursday, August 4
Information on Voting Process: Saturday, August 6

Important: Election will be done online by Online Election Company. Election Committee will have no role other than sending the Online Voting Company the name and email of the voters and the candidate information. The Company will create voters ID, email link to voters and do all the election process and publish the election results. EC do monitor the election process.
