Cliché, I know; and some of you wouldn’t care to chide me for posting this, but still, in all seriousness, I would like to garner some inputs about who would you draft for your fantasy team if the roster could accommodate 1 quarterback, 1 running back, 2 wide receivers, 1 tight end , 1 wide receiver/running back, 1 Kicker and a Defense team. I have been playing fantasy football for several years now, but my last three attempts nosedived which led me to believe I either drafted wrong players or failed to reshuffle players effectively.
So this is my analysis on some of the star players on whether to draft them or not.
1.       Brady vs Manning vs Aaron Rodgers vs Philip Rivers vs Drew Brees vs Romo vs Vick – Brady never looked better, especially coming off that last MVP season, also has Ochocinco. Manning’s neck might cause an issue, but with Superbowl in Indy, he might want to contend for it. Aaron Rodgers now has an additional receiver in Jermichael Finley as compared to last year and a good OT Derek Sherod. Philip Rivers has his superstar wide receiver in Vincent Jackson back and Drew Brees’ team hasn’t changed much besides shuffle of running backs. Romo WILL THROW now that he only has Felix Jones and he needs to throw to ensure he is still in the game.  Vicks’ resurgence has been exemplary, but could he live off the hype?

My take – Draft Brady, Rodgers, Romo and Rivers. Be cautious in drafting Manning and Brees. I am neutral on Vick, too much expectations can cause him to Buckle. Philly added some notable players on their defensive end, but the offense remains same.

2.       Chris Johnson vs MJ Drew vs Adrian Peterson vs Steven Jackson vs Adrian Foster vs Peyton Hillis vs Mendelhall  vs Jamaal Charles vs Michael Turner vs Ray Rice – Hasselback has to throw, he is a veteran and he will throw to prove his point, VY threw it too and limited Chris Johnson last year. MJ Drew will run, Garrard has always made him run.  Mcnabb might limit AP, the only reason Vikes added him was to throw. Remember AP was limited to some extent when Brett Favre threw. Steven Jackson might repeat the same season he had last year. Adrian Foster was a superstar last year, but could he repeat? We all know the passing prowess of Schaub. Peyton Hillis could be a fluke or a repeat star, no one knows yet, but if Colt McCoy is to remain a QB, he might want to throw. Nothing has changed for Mendelhall, Steelers cut their veteran OT and Rashard’s performance could be impacted. Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice and Turner could have a repeat season.
My take – Draft MJ Drew, Jamaal Charles. Be cautious in drafting CJ, Rashard and AP. I am neutral on Michael Turner, Peyton Hillis, Ray Rice, Adrian Foster and Steven Jackson.
3.       Roddy White vs  Dre Johnson vs Greg Jennings vs Reggie Wayne vs Ochocinco vs Wes Welker vs Vincent Jackson vs Desean Jackson vs Miles Austin vs Marques Colston vs Anquan Boldin – Roddy White will have a repeat performance, no doubt about that, and so will Dre Johnson. Greg Jennings might be limited after the re-advent of Finley. Reggie Wayne, keeping in regards of ailing Manning could be a no-no. Ochocinco and Welker could both do wonders as long as Brady does not throw to TEs. Vincent and Desean Jacksons will explode. Miles will be a star performer after Romo is back in the game, Colston and Boldin will be effective cos Brees will throw instead of handing the ball to Ingram and Boldin will be the only star receiver now that Derrick Mason is gone.

My take – Draft Ochocinco, Welker, Boldin, Colston, Miles, Desean and Vincent. Do not drart Reggie Wayne. I am neutral on Roddy White and Dre.

4.       Pittsburg D vs Baltimore D vs Jets D vs Patriots D vs Packers D vs Eagles D – Pittsburg, Baltimore and Jets will be repeat performers. I am interested how Belichick will use Hayensworth, as much as I dislike him, he is one of the best defensive ends in the league. Clay Matthews is set to explode, Tramon Williams, Nick Collins, AJ Hawk and superstar Woodson are all coming off a high. Eagles are a dynamite this season, with two star CBs and Jenkins, this team is a Defense’s dream come true.

Draft everyone else but Patriots, we do not know how Hayensworth fits.

More inputs please……..
