There is lots of Money in the business of Religion and India is working hard to bank all the cash there is with the religion of Buddhism. India has gone to an extent of claiming Buddha being born in India and Lumbini being part of Bihar to the international media. It is interesting to see that " times of india" is the first one to report on this while there has not been a word about this from the Nepali Media. We can't tell how reliable the Chinese interest to Lumbini area was but if something like that was to happen it would be a major pain for India for the world to recognize Nepal as a destination for Buddisam pligrimage and not India.

So what can India do to make sure this deal won't happen? Possibly bribe the rulers for an extended period of power, simply bribe them with money OR Pay off all the Nepali Media not to speak about it. We are probably seeing all of that right now.

For your question about why communistic china wants to invest in Religion? Unlike us Nepalese, Chinese do not give a fk about where they invest, they have their investments in places of religion and a war torn/human rights stricken countries. They want to invest because they are smart enough to know that there is lots of money in Religion. Same reason they buy US Treasuries and also the same reason why they invest with renown dictactors of the world.
