Simple answer is this:
Gurkha doesn't mean Nepali speaking people. As per the army recruitment guidelines, Gurkha is defined by anyone who nose is "thappace", eyes "wider", short height, uneducated, willing to suck up with lowest ranks in army and swallow bullets.
If your last name is Sharma (or any Brahman name) in Nepal, most likely you will not be recruited. Brahmans don't have thappche nose. Like I said, you are trying to make Madhes a race but the world knows Hinduism has a Varna system and everyone falls under that. You are free to make up any imaginery races you want.
In India, you will have to appear in competitve exams to become an officer (Remember OFFICER) in the army/airforce/navy. Mostly, educated class Brahman/Chettri is able to ace the exams. The rest of the barrack is full with dumb idiots who drop out from grade 8.
