From what I know, there are mainly three strands of Brahmin in Nepal
Upadhaya, Kumai and Jaishi..
Don't know how accurate this is, but my great grandmother (who is no longer alive) told me when I was a kid that Jaishi Bahuns started off when someone in the Kumai (or Upadhyaya) clan married a widow..
