Self Emloyment need to use  Schedule C, so far my understanding. Instead of fighting with nonsense people, put the numbers and see how much you need to pay to the government and state.
Try to find out  best way to lower your taxable income. If you find any Indian guy doing tax, they know the tricks. Do you live in DC or Virginia. My relative use to go to a Indian guy. I may find his name. Find one who is doing Individual tax and specialise in Business Income / Schedule C.
