I don't think India, as represented by the Government of the Federal Repubic of India (?), has any interest in dividing Nepal. With the problems it already has at its borders with all its neighbors already, why would it want further trouble along its border with Nepal?

At this point, their primary interest lies in checking the Maoists because of their perceived conception of Maoist-Naxalites cooperation. Apart from those few old-age thinkers, who still are enamored with the lust of dominion over smaller countries in neighboring regions, I guess smarter Indians and Nepalis both realize that economic harmonization between India and Nepal benefits both the countries. I would also say that these thinkers, who have progressive thinking, are pushed back by populist propoganda in both the countries.

I would say that it would be a pretty naive fear to still feel that India wants to divide Nepal to conquer Nepal. India should send some Western educated and progressive people as Ambassadors to Nepal. Sood created a lot of mess and worsened relations between the countries. He represents a certain Indian mentality that carries an air of superiority in dealing with the neighboring countries. I wonder why India sends these dumbasses to Nepal!
