Shanti priya.

It is very interesting observation from a Newar to note that PNS respected the Newar Culture and thus saved Indra jatra and kumari jatra etc. Thank you. My question to you will be; had he respected the Newar Culture and the people who created this Culture he would not have attacked the valley in the first place. Many a travelers from far and wide came to see and appreciate the renowned Newah culture but this PNS came with a strong desire to conquer, rule and own it. His numerous repeated attacks on the valley is proof to his insatiable and marauding desire to conquer the people and rule over them and own all the riches and try his best to rename the culture in his name, which unfortunately persists to this very day. He went further after conquering Nepal to conquer the rest of other regions and people to rule and not to respect. Trying to rename Newar culture as “NEPALI” culture is a dream that will never come true however hard one “bangs his head on the wall” As for “NEPALI” Culture. What is “NEPALI” culture after all?. What culture is that can anyone define it for me. I have no idea. Who came up with this absurd name and where did it come from?. Tell me what is “Nepali” culture, its origin, history or basis and what it is all about? I haven’t read anything like that in history.

If Santi priya sees the whole gamut of issues raised by the Newar community as stupid and “sampradahik” then one reading the argument can only surmise that there is something wrong in the upbringing of this person. Either it is because of a deep and constant association and reading of the orthodoxy khas media, writers, or the panchayati educational system, or some radical parental influence. Such flawed and skewed understanding of the reality is quiet debilitating as if living in another parallel world. Sampradayak are those who in the name of building a new democracy try to resort to old orthodoxy by imposing their will upon the rest, imposing one language policy by, specially the Sampradayak ruling elite, when it is universally acknowledged that the country is multi-national. Sampradayak is the one who think his language alone represent the rest of the languages of this multi-lingual country. My understanding of Democracy is quiet different that the one you harbor. Again about one of your assertions - Democracy is not just about the rule of the majority, but it is also about how you treat the minority in an inclusive and non-divisive way listening to the remaining 49% of the people. Sorry I am quiet disappointed with the Newar in you. You have lot to learn and grow into, and when you do, I bet you will have a different mindset. Just remember this for me.
