Chana_tarkari, I could not stop putting some words again. I am sorry again since my comment is little off from your original post. Do you know what was the national source of income during Jaya Prakash malla's time in a small state like KTm ? He abolished the system of having private lands. He imposed heavy tax on people. Because of such incidents people in ktm were very upset with him. So, PN Shah was invited to attack KTM by Newar people. Do you know, gorkhali annexed KTM without bloodshed (only one nagarkoti soldier was killed). He only fought with Bhaktapur. As promised, he returned all the lands to previous owner. Made guthis of newar more systematized, did not interfere on any traditional rite of ktm people. Since, ktm was won by Shah, newari cultures are still alive. The end of malla regime was inevitable anyhow because it was a weak state in the era of sword. If not PN Shah would be someone else. Can you imgine if any muslim king of adjoining bengal had won ktm what would be the condition of newars and ktm?? So, stop blame game.

And regarding bhasa, a state authorized language is one used by majority of population. It's not only in nepal but everywhere. I do not believe Newars are underprivileged because of PN Shah's annexation. Rather, it opened new destinations for them to trade and do business all over nepal. And you can see a lot of Newar people in strong and powerful political position since Shah regime (even in rana's rule). Despite blaming anyone and past, join politics and do right things. Change system. We are here to support you, not everyone is jaundiced by racism.
