This is completely bullshit. If someone is claiming something, he has to prove it, otherwise he is a liar , perhaps a systematic liar, and he can't be trusted.
First, this guy doesn't really have a degree from the university from where many people would end up being a professor. It is not like he went to some top school.
Second, Kathmandu is full of people with PhD from top schools too. Nepali people doesn't have to respect everyone who goes back with PhD. If I hate anyone it is the kind of people who claim "they could have been XXX, but came back to Nepal". These sympathy-seekers tend to be people with less talent. People should, as someone wrote in Nepali Times recently, keep the reference to where they come from to minimal. Matribhumi farkadaima you don't deserve all the respects, you have to return with some talent and show it before you get some respect, no matter whether you return with a degree from MIT or Berkeley.
People like Sirjana or Tulsi has this freaking illusion that they can claim anything and get away with anything. The claim of Sirjana that she would be a professor of chemistry in a good university after two years is a foolish stuff, and no one who has been a serious student of science can make such a claim. The same with Tulsi Bhandari. But these stupids are not going to realize this or apologize for this. When everything is said and done, Sirjana wants to go to 'poll' and 'let people decide'. Wow. What is there to decide anyway? May be you have more 'friends' here, as you stay more here in sajha with your girlish name, and may be that makes you feel you can get more sympathy vote. For me, of course, truth is truth , no matter who votes for you or how many votes you get.
Another issue is Gagan Thapa. I am sure he erred in his Trichandra days, but it is not fair anymore to refer back to his Trichandra days to prove things that have nothing to do with present case. He has said in his interviews that as a student leader, he did things he is not very proud of. Furthermore, it has been several years, and he has earned people's respect, and won the highest votes in NC elections. So that's where things stand now. Ditto with SP Kharel. He has worked very hard, in Siraha , in Pokhara and in KTM. People like him can't be bad people overnight. It is also true that Gagan has friends with PhD from top universities of the states, so if Tulsi went around showing off his degree, he could impress not many people in his circle. So, people like Tulsi has to work hard before he could tear apart the reputation of the likes of Kharel or Thapa. If I have to believe someone, I still believe SP Kharel or Thapa over Tulsi.
