As far as i know, health insurance is usually provided by the university itself for international students. So check on that!  usually it's around $1000 per year for the insurance. (most don't cover dental and optics).

I suggest you take the health insurance, because if you were to land in the hospital, you could go bankrupt. Even an ambulance ride alone is around $1000. Once, my friend had to go the hospital for "stone" surgery, she had to pay around $2k -3k out of pocket after the insurance covered the remaining fees.
