you are right I'm afraid of the suckers like hell. I've seen corruptions firsthand in Nepal and me and my relatives had been victims of the corruptions during the royal eras. To tell you the truth, at this point I don't need to think of Nepal or Nepali people's welfare; but I'm also a Nepali first like you and my relatives, friends and foes are all Nepalis; I wish them all good things (and Happy Dashain too:-). And in my humble opinion, fedaralism is good for Nepal in the long run.
Now you are talking about voting. Nobody had stopped the kings and the royals to commision a referendum on their status while they were in power. Had they got the gut, they could have conducted a referendum on their status themselves while they were kings and queens. Did they not know that people hated them? Were they not afraid of the referendum in the first place? They had the money and power but no willingness, why the hell do you, you Syanjali bro,  worry about it now? The kings don't care and did not care about it when they needed to, now you are worrying about it for no reasons.
Let us look forward, friend, forward. The suckers have sucked our motherland dry for 240 years.
