You know, I share similar situation with you except for one thing. I don't blame my parents because they did what they thought, with the knowledge they had, was best for me. Now, did I think the same way about six months ago? The answer is 'NO'.
I realized that I needed to be a better person to have better things in life.
I am not a book person, but said to myself, you know, if I could change myself just by reading a book, that would be the easiest thing. So I began searching for a book over the internet. And found this book called 'See You At The Top'.
It took me almost a year, to seriously start reading this book about five months ago. (I guess, when you are into so many negative things, you need some time to adjust with good/positive things, you know)
After reading it many times(I still do), I have somewhat changed my way of thinking. They say that, thoughts become things. What you are today is the outcome of your past thoughts. And your thoughts today will shape your future. You cannot monitor all the thoughts but CAN differentiate it, as being good or not good, then focus on good ones. It won't change your whole pattern of thinking overnight but you will change, one thought at a time, as Steve Chandler says it.
Self-motivation is like a bath, you got to take it every day or every time you are fed with negative things by people, media or other means. I recommend, you read 'See You At The To', by Zig Ziglar.

Important: Surround yourself with people who support you. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at - bipin.tripathi@gmail.com. I wish you best of luck with everything. (there are so many good things that I could/want to share but I think you will have better impression if you discovered it yourself. please get the book!!!)
