I used to live in WV when I got a ticket in Southern VA for speeding in the middle of the night trying to catch the Monday morning work. This was more than 3 years ago. I didn't have time go back an challenge the ticket in VA, and I paid the ticket by phone. I now live in NC.
A self-initiated background check yesterday showed that I have a "misdemeanor" record in VA and that I was "guilty in absentia."
The sentence was: "Fined: Yes. Court costs: Yes."
is this a REAL misdemeanor?
I've never ever had a criminal record, and I've never ever been arrested. What is the best way to approach this misdemeanor?
Thank you.
