Couple years ago , I helped a student of IA with 1042 but, was illegible to file 1040.
Couple times I tired to practice on 1040 NR and Most of the case it takes you straight to 1040 NR EZ once you put your filing status is single.
One student told me s/he always filed 1040 EZ and always itemized , because s/he is going to get more deduction due to tuition, mandatory fees, books and stationary.On EZ you are getting only personal exemption only. That is the reason , I am suggesting to itemize.
Give a try how it looks on paper filing and then to online.
