Restoration of monarchy might prove to be signal to the maoists to make them go back to the jungle for People's War 2.0. Do you want that? No one in the right mind would look forward to that.

On the other hand, if some of you claim that we need a king to unite all the Nepalese people, then a natural question arises. We can have a monarch but from what race?
According to oral and recorded history, Kathmandu Valley was ruled by kings that belong to the dynasty of Kirat, Lichchhabi, Malla and Shah. Shah dynasty held the mantle for more than two centuries but they screwed up causing their own demise just like what probably happened of the previous ones. There is a saying "a great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within". The same principal should apply for all these countless dynasties.

Now even if the referendum picks Constitutional Monarchy which defunct dynasty do we pick a king from?
Kirat, Lichchhabi, Malla and Shah or one of the other dynasties that existed outside Kathmandu Valley like the Sen, Ghale, Gurung, Magar, Mustange, Shakyas etc and so many other dynasties that are rampant in the historical folklores.

The people who are after this particular campaign are doing this for their own political gain or  for continuation of unjustified State entitlements to certain groups of people that had enjoyed them for generations.  Every great seat in power should be occupied by one of those who has earned or achieved it not by one who was born with silver spoon in the mouth if you want Nepal to be a fair and democratic society.
