Whilst there is undoubtedly merit in what Kamal Thapa is saying on having referenda to decide issues of national importance, his decision to shut the Valley down is ill conceived and self-defeating. It would be far better if the likes of Mr. Thapa and his supporters took steps to prevent such bandhs, not make matters worse by adopting these negative types of protests associated, amongst others, with the Maoists terrorists.
