A coffee Shop with free WI FI in NYC

@AlterEgo,

Borders at Penn Station -- 32nd Street and 7th Avenue (next to Madison Square Garden) offers free WiFi, the service they've recently started - but it's almost always heavily crowded; if you can find a spot to sit and plug your laptop on, you should be good (and lucky!). NY Public library at 42nd and 5th Avenue has free WiFi as well, but without coffee shop/bistro. My favorite spot is Panera Bread, but I haven't seen one around midtown Manhattan. I sometimes go to the one in Bayside, there's a shopping plaza and plenty of parking. You can check out books at Barnes and Noble, dine in at Red Lobster, or grab a bite at one of the fast food restaurants within the same facilities.

Last, but not the least - if you're technically savvy, there are ways to bypass the usage restrictions at virtually any WiFi hotspots, and that's beyond the scope of discussion here. I'd suggest you check out Borders if you're looking at Midtown.
