wth do u mean that janjatis attributes second class. i guess this is all what cums in ur racist rotten brain that they run around jungles wielding bows, arrows n spears. UN's ILO convention 169 defines n preserves the rights of indegenous or janjatis as in nepali. it has created criterias, nepal has ratified it wholeheartedly, n all those population of nepal under janjatis tags do qualify as indegenous, ie, an ethnic groups having thier own 'distinct' culture, religion, traditions, costums, lnagugaes, and most important of all inhabit a geographic region with which they hav earliest known historical relation. they did not self claim themselves as u said to b an opportunist. the main purposes r to safeguard thier aged old cultural heritages n to bring them to mainstream since the state has deliberately or unknowingly negelcted such groups through various state mechanisms, so sum external force or incentives r required to uplift them. for ur info bro, thats wat excatly newars thought of jnajatis at first but now they hav realized the true value n imporatnce of the status n hav included themselves in. for bahun n chetrris mere janjatis was wild n uncivilized but now chettris on thier own hav appealed to review their status n include them too which is currently under investigation now.
about politicizing these sentiments, i say u reap wat u sow, if u r to review the modern nepalese history it is all about these, now we r bearing the consequences of racial n ethnic tentions. accept it or not, since nepal was unified only dominant n elite race treid, made n forced to believe n implement their cultural values n norms as national n declared others all wild n uncivlized that should b eradicated. national policy was made such, like 'one language, one custom, one country', many kirats mundhums n religious scripts were burned, gurung n limbu teachers were imprisoned for teaching in thier languages etc etc. where the hell does the racial rebellion grow than in such fragile state, i wonder. the two major parties as per the recent election, maoist n UML combinley received about 70 percent votes has favoured this federal setup. all i m contemplating is now the power lies in this game of ethncity, watever maybe the future.
