HA! the fact is that we worship every statue we can find. thats what it is. they probably don't even realize that its a statue of Buddha. I remember one time I went to a temple in Nepal where they sacrifice goats and stuff. the stone statues inside the temple were covered with blood and all the "aabir" and that yellow thing; it was pretty much unrecognizable from little distance. If you could pay really close attention to the statues, you could see that one of them was Buddha. Dude they were sacrificing goat to Buddha.
