Pire may be you are right but how can it be so hard and how can one claim that it is so close? I had never been in contact with her family till now and I am 28. Further we don't even share a common surname. I googled and found that even this gotra concept is not consistent through out the vedic history. But how could I persuade her parents to this?

Donald duck  I agree with your point of view and share the similar understanding but the problem is not with me it is a generation that is ahead of me and it is always to find a common ground where we can respect each others thought and again move forward in a positive direction, One step at a time.
